Central Vermont Seed Swap!

25 Jan

This Saturday, Jan 29th, join us for the 4th Annual Central Vermont Seed Swap in commemoration of the International Seed Swap Day of Action from 12-3 pm.  Looking forward to spring?  Need seeds for your garden? Bring seeds you have saved to share, and get other locally grown seeds.  If you don’t have any seeds to share, you are still welcome to participate. What a great way to celebrate the diversity of food!  We ask that you not bring any Monsanto or Genetically Modified seeds.  Seeds are the basis of life, cultural carriers and important transmitters of information.  Sharing seeds now will equip us to be productive in the spring and summer, and to take back the right to control where our food comes from. Connect with and learn from other gardeners, get free seeds from a diversity locations, and learn about the new Barre food coalition – Barre Food First!

We will also be serving a pay-what-you-can community meal prepared by the F.O.O.D. trainees.  In addition Joann Darling will be facilitating a great workshop on making and using plant dyes for wool. See poster below.

The Heart Beat of Barre

25 Jan

Every fourth Monday of the month, Joann Darling will host Heart Beat of Barre, a drumming circle with a different theme each month.  The event is free and open to the public!  Those who attend are also welcome to share poetry, stories or other art forms that relate to each month’s theme.
