Junior F.O.O.D. classes have started!

This past Saturday, March 5th, the Junior F.O.O.D. classes started off with great success.  We have seven kids enrolled in the series.  They seem eager to learn about food, and most importantly are open to trying new things.  Together we made carrots and beets three different ways: roasted, grated, and fried to make chips. All of the methods of cooking turned out very well, thanks to the kids cooperation and hard work, and to chef Aaron Lipman who donated his time, skills, and knowledge of cooking to the class.  It is amazing how different the same ingredients can taste based on how they have been prepared.  We also compared farm fresh eggs to supermarket bought eggs: their color, texture and taste.  We discussed why these eggs might have these differences, and how they were produced.  Tony Campos from Central Vermont Television was at LACE filming the class, so there is a possibility the kids will be cooking stars in the future!
